Environment, Parks & Leisure Scrutiny Panel, 2011 will meet to discuss Grange Park Network Rail actions
The panel will be reviewing Network Rails decision to cut down all the Grange Park embankment trees - For more details click here.
The Meeting will take place
At : The Civic Centre
On : Tuesday 1st March 2011
At : 7:30pm
The meeting is open to the public, so as many people that can should attend to show the level of interest in a resolution to this issue. Chris McDaid will be attending from Network Rail to discuss the options for replacing the trees at the base of the embankments.
The Chairman of the Environmental Scrutiny Panel Cllr Alan Sitkin, has written to N21.net to clarify the role of the meeting and it's terms of reference...
"I have convinced Chris McDaid to attend and am pleased to have done so.
We will be dealing with Network Rail at 7.30 sharp for about 30 minutes.
On this point, however, I need to repeat very clearly that the sole purpose of this particular scrutiny panel is to be forward-looking, i.e. to discuss the botanical/arboricultural/ecological principles guiding Network Rail's replanting programme (plus their budget, timing, etc.).
We will welcome all constructive input along these lines but not allow the discussion to tardy over the (very justifiable) recriminations that have already been levied at Network Rail for what we all view as an unconscionable act.
There have been and will be other forums for such criticisms but we need to be efficient and focus on getting Network Rail to repair - as far as possible - the damage committed in the briefest possible time. It is in this vein that Mr. McDaid will be scrutinised at the upcoming panel."
I thought I saw a baby deer in Grange Park..
A fox awakens on the railway line between Green Dragon Lane and the Grangeway..
