Although Debbie King comes from England’s Hayling Island; her paintings possess an intercontinental flavour... consistent with her European travels and four-year Spanish residency. In fact, a number of her works have found homes in locations as distant as Hawaii.
The formidable size of many of the paintings contained in the Pathways collection are symbolic of Debbie’s formal training in Art and Design at London’s Froebel College and her professional experience as an interior designer in Spain. Her focus on “Art for Public Places” while at Froebel and the vast “canvases” upon which she applied her interior designs appear to have produced an artistic vision oriented toward liberating both space and a subject’s detail.
Now residing in London, Debbie anticipates an evolution in style that captures her role as the expat-artist returned; hence, the Pathways collection could be considered a retrospective of sorts. She describes her work to date as “using light to reveal the otherwise unrealized beauty of various found objects and tableaus.” She’s currently contemplating using her unique and acclaimed application of light to reveal the unrecognized or unappreciated beauty of her subjects.

Commissions: Debbie is available on a limited basis to paint commissioned work. Her last commissioned work was for a client who wanted one of Debbie’s paintings for the area above a showcase fireplace. Such works require consultation and planning and her experience as an interior designer allows Debbie to assist clients in obtaining custom artwork which will satiate personal tastes as well as decorative and spatial requirements.
