The Southgate District Civic Trust’s objectives are to:

Conserve and enhance the best aspects of our district and encourage interest in its character.

Promote the physical improvement of the area and campaign actively against its deterioration through neglect or adverse proposals. The Southgate District Civic Trust negotiates with Enfield Council, local national authorities, central government and MPs.

Support those features of social, economic and physical change which enhance community life in the Southgate District Civic Trust area.

Provide the opportunity for the interchange of views and discussion on local environmental issues by holding meetings and social gatherings.


The following groups have been established in order to focus special interests:-

Local Conservation and Planning:
Planning developments, civic design, roads and traffic, promotion and protection of conservation areas.

Trees and Natural Environment:
Preservation, planting and care of trees, improvement and maintenance of footpaths and open spaces.

Local History:
Research into and recording of the history of the district, photography and archives, lectures and visits.

Publications:
Publishing books, maps and postcards on topics of local interest.

Publicity:
publicising the work of the Trust, liaising with the press, and production of a quarterly newsletter for members.
